Odd day, fog and small stretches of ice all day. Its amazing, the ladies come up on deck, “ooooh isn’t it wonderful, ooooh look at the sunset, look at the sunrise. Helming is like crossing mercury”
I get on deck and within 5 mins it goes to dog poo, fog comes down, ice increases, steer to port to avoid going into Russia. Forgot to mention if we cross the marine border you have to give 48 hour notice, 24 hour notice, then 8 hour notice and where you are going to cross and where you are going to exit. I can’t even remember if its morning or night at the moment, let alone anything else, so avoid the order like the plague.
Denis was on Cook duty today. Russian soup and a Russian Dinner, and very nice it was. I washed up again!!!
This Laptev Sea is giving us a run for our money.
So my watch tonight, “oooh, look at the birds, oooh look at the sea”, bingo, within 5 mins, Ice,ice ice, so I get Irish up with her Holy water, I have to begrudgingly admit, women are better drivers. They just seem to have a knack of finding a route through this impenetrable ice, so to Babs, Constance and Ros, (In alphabetical order) Vodka salute to you three with my Comrades.
