Well yesterday from Tuk in 24 hours we did 169 NM, great mileage when you think of the hard gained 90 miles in the Beaufort sea, day after day. We have a following wind, which is helping. The viking has us goose winged, in Russia they call it Butterfly. It’s when you pole out a sail either side of the mast. At times making 9 knots.
It’s a great shame we are not seeing the land as we pass. The cloud base is so low, we just occasionally see the coast. On my watch tonight I saw about 20 Canadian Geese in formation flying South. Hopefully in just a few days time, we will also be turning the corner for South. The west longitude is still clicking down.
Mrs Irish did a great meal tonight of ham, spuds and veg. But her true skill is her apple crumble and custard. Nikolai hates custard, so I get double helpings.The Viking is allergic to apple. So guess what, he gets his own Peach crumble. The rest of the Crew of 6 get a bowl of crumble to share, he gets the same amount just for himself. !!!!
Well today anyway, he deserved it, she is sailing like a young girl, Jarlath would be proud how she is sailing.
