DISCIPLINARY ACTION ON BOARD 1800, Sat 8 Oct, 2016.
I would like to formally report an act of wilful damage has been discovered on board NORTHABOUT.
As skipper it is my solemn duty to investigate and deal with the matter immediately under authority granted via Merchant Shipping Act, 1974.
The PRISTINE SKIPPERS LOG BOOK, was found to have a large COFFEE SPILL spanning almost the ENTIRE PAGE of skippers beautifully recorded log, (in ink) thereby rendering totally ILLEGIBLE. The coffee stain was semi dried, obviously instant, but an attempt at CONCEALMENT and damage control with blue tissue was evident. we have not identified the CULPRIT right now, but we will shortly.
This ATROCITY will be investigated, and the perpetrator will be identified and possibly summarily punished on board. I have appointed an investigating officer, Young Ben, also prosecuting, and if need be, a defending officer, (Mate, Andy) and a Master at Arms (The Colonel).
I will of course, sit as Judge.
There are other charges pending, that will be formulated. I am determined to maintain good order and discipline.

This story really is a page turner. I will miss it when you reach home.
To Capt/Judge Mike,
Even tho I can’t attend the trial in defence of my big brother I would however like to put forward a case of insanity. Having grown up with RN discipline instilled in us from an early age and that the cardinal sin of having coffee anywhere near a chart or log book I agree does in fact deserve severe punishment. However the PRISTINE SKIPPERS LOG BOOK for such an historic voyage should I believe have been a slighly more elaborate affair rather than an old note book with some not very straight lines. As for his insanity defence, it’s pretty obvious he’s nuts to be doing this at his age with you lot in gale force winds and freezing temperatures.
The defence rests. Capt T Hudson, United States Coast Guard
Seconded, but if you do keelhaul him please video the punishment.
