Entering Queen Maud Gulf, you are approaching the area reached by Sir John Franklin in his ill-fated expedition of 1845. The remains of one of his ships was found in 2014 off King William Island. There is a certain poignancy if Northabout is able to sail, unimpeded by ice, through the waters entombing Franklin’s vessel. I wonder if the route of Northabout goes anywhere near King William Island?
