After that we went and visited the small graveyard on the island. Seven graves, one that looked like it was for a child. Quite a sad little spot in many ways.

Ben Edwards, crew whole expedition 1st October

So this morning Mike and I went ashore to the pool before breakfast.  It was very pleasant. About a metre of water, warm sandy bottom and so on.  According to Mike in all New Zealand hot springs you should never put your head under water because there’s a form of amoebic meningitis that lives in the pools and enters your brain through the nasal membrane.  It has an a hundred percent fatality record.  We don’t know whether it’s the same here but we didn’t take the chance.  After that we went and visited the small graveyard on the island.  Seven graves, one that looked like it was for a child. Quite a sad little spot in many ways.

Upon our return to the boat we feasted upon scrambled eggs on toast, hoisted the anchor, said goodbye to Eagles Quest, and left.  Our trip down the next few fjords was astonishing.  The peaks were very high and somewhat precarious in their look.  I want to stop off and go climbing.  I’ll be sending you the pictures we got of them soon enough, might take a while to send though.  The system is very slow.  We’re now in Prins Christian Sund(no I haven’t spelt it wrong).  Generally known as the best fjord in the world.  It is pretty amazing I’ll admit.  Tomorrow we go down the best bit though.  Three thousand foot peaks on either side and half a kilometre deep water.  It should be good, very good.  I’m afraid however I’m struggling to kep me i’s upnsui’mgn’tbdnw.  By.
