This week they are back on the 14th April 2015 to finish the elements of the rigging that needed completing and also to liaise regarding arranging some rigging spares for ‘Northabout’ as in the Arctic Ocean. ‘Northabout’ and her crew will need to be self sufficient and be equipped to deal with any routine maintenance or any unexpected problem that crops up. We had a surprise visit at the Kilrush Marina, on 31st March 2015 by a couple of supportive friends and followers of the project. They first saw ‘Northabout’ with the friend of David’s when ‘Northabout’ first became a possible expedition yacht for us. They phoned the office to say that she was looking great with her shiny new rigging and that was before it was even fully completed. Now that her rigging is fully completed, the sterling work that Bill Laverty and his team have done has been complemented by our skipper Magnus Day and also James Hale, who is currently supporting the project by helping us undertake and complete the jobs to get ‘Northabout’ ready and prepared for the challenges that lie ahead for her and the crew.
