Today in my morning watch things weren’t quite as idyllic. Over night we’d sailed into ice. I know, I said we shouldn’t be troubled by ice for a bit, I was wrong. The ice on its own wasn’t too bad, the thing was we had fog as well.

Constance Difede from dodging ice in the laptev sea “Pantone Palette” Fog and Ice.  Without wind, the sea and the sky are the same hue as the fog. The fog has added another dimension to Arctic helming.  Hide and Seek….

  • 45 minutes – The time to takes for the average crew member to dress and equip for watch and get to the cockpit. 35 seconds -The time it takes for the same crew to get to his bunk, get his kit off and get in bed with eyes closed….. 17/10/2016
