One of the yachts that were sailing in the North West Passage in 2014 was set to sail the North East Passage until they were unable to secure a Russian Permit. We found out who they were insured with and they also gave us details of another company that gave them a quote. This proved to be the snippet of knowledge that we needed. One of the companies we were able to contact directly and we were able to secure a quote. This seemed almost too good to be true. We had received one no after another and even the specialist yacht insurance broker had received no’s at every turn.
The second company needed to be contacted through a broker. We contacted the specialist yacht insurance broker and asked if they had contacted the company with regards to our insurance enquiry. They weren’t aware of the insurance company, but were prepared to see if they could submit presentations to the company on our behalf. This all went well and the specialist yacht insurance broker came back with another quote.
