David Hempleman-Adams, Expedition Leader 16 July in Murmansk
Another day of red tape in Murmansk. Nikolai and Dennis his first mate have been here before do I let them get on with it. I think even they get frustrated with the system.
Yesterday I left the boat and went through security. The lady looked at my passport. Checked my photograph. Checked my visa. Checked the photograph. Checked I was on the official stamped list checked the white slip in the passport had been signed and stamped. I forgot something on the boat. So with 5 mins was in front of the same lady. She checked everything exactly the same. I picked up my charger and was in front of the same lady. Quick exit! No way same process. Still no smile.
BUT the system is the system the people are wonderful. Friendly. Helpful with that can do northern town attitude. 24 hours of light so they make the most of it even the mosquitoes make the most of it. 24 hours a day. Busy little guys
