Hazel Richard, crew 1st leg
Finally we arrived at Lerwick….a beautiful little harbour full of interesting pathways and shops to browse. The locals are incredibly friendly and made time to stop and talk for a while. We enjoyed hot showers and laundry facilities at the Lerwick Boat Club. Never in a millions years did I expect to have such a entertaining afternoon watching the Skipper’s smalls whirl around in the washing machine and listen to sailor stories travelling the globe….Marion and her Norwegian husband had been sailing almost none stop for 8 years!
Steve tasked me to have business cards produced so that crew could hand them out to visitors and interested public as they circumnavigate…well done Natasha for great artwork and to the Shetland Times for acting so quickly. Nikolay, our Arctic Skipper joined us in Lerwick and in a flash had Northabout’s decks ship shaped and Bristol fashion! I was sad to leave Lerwick behind, promising myself to return, to visit the Puffins and their cliff top nests and Scalloway, the home of the Inksters!
