Rob Hudson, crew 4th leg, Atlantic crossing
In Qaqortaq last night I was able to get wifi connection in a bar, so saw for the first time the blogs and photos on the expedition website from the last week. Fran is doing a great job posting our experiences, and it was heartening to see comments from family and friends. So, I’ll keep on posting when I get a chance.
We are motoring down the coast about 50 miles today, intending to anchor late afternoon before some wind comes in. Then another 50 miles tomorrow will take us close to the passage through the southern tip to a place we can wait for a good weather window to make a dash for southern Ireland.
Today has been another of those days at the office – a battleship on the horizon turned into a monster iceberg, whales were blowing off the starboard bow, seals keep popping their heads up and then ducking down again fast just in case we have a rifle aiming at them.
, and we motored all round it admiring the colours underwater, and strange vertical dark blue lines through the ice. Then Skipper Mike knocked up a broth with the remains of the Arctic char from the night before last, mopped up with freshly baked tomato loaf from the breadmaker.
Yes, just another day at the office!

Rob, it sounds absolutely fabulous, good luck with the rest of the expedition. Wish we had seen similar wild life.
