So far today we have in 5 hours seen no other living soul. The wildness and solitude is captivating.

Rob Hudson, transatlantic crew; from Nuuk to Bristol 25 Sept

The weather is grey, dry and cold, the sea is calm, and there is little wind as we gently cruise down the coast to our next anchorage. Last night was at Faeringehavn, an abandoned Faroese fishing village, in still water surrounded by islands with a few derelict houses on one side. Tonight should be at Fiskenaesset, a fishing village of 230 inhabitants, so it should be a little livelier. So far today we have in 5 hours seen no other living soul. The wildness and solitude is captivating.

Northabout is full of amazing food. In the first two days I’ve sampled chicken tikka, chicken fricassee, meatballs, chilli, Greenland rollmop herrings (sublime!), Branston pickle, lime and mango chutney, three different types of cheese, Ryvita, cheese crackers, scrambled eggs, tomato soup and endless slices and chunks of fresh brown bread from the onboard breadmaker. This is clearly an expedition that sails on its stomach!!

Glad you’re enjoying the food so much! Do the rest of the crew realise that you’re a bit of a foodie on the quiet!? And also a pretty good cook!
Hope everything continues to go well! Look forward to seeing you in Bristol in about three weeks!

Loving the 50:50 ratio of adventure to food!

Glad you’re having fun and eating well
