Rob Hudson, crew, Atlantic crossing; 4th leg 14 October from Westport, Ireland
“What a wonderful experience Black Sod and Westport were! Thanks to Jarlath, Michael, Tom, Andrew and everyone else who made us so welcome and entertained us so lavishly. Unforgettable, and I look forward to next time.
The only off note for me over the last 2 days was the news I had on Mike’s phone from my wife, Jan, as we were approaching Black Sod on Wednesday night. She told me she had fallen off a stepladder the Sunday before last – while we were waiting at the weather station to set off across the Atlantic – knocked herself out for two hours, cracked three ribs, and didn’t tell me so I wouldn’t worry! Thanks, Jan! I really appreciate that – it would have made the trip very hard, and I’m sorry I have been unable to do anything to help. I’ll make it up next week. As I keep telling her, it’s much more dangerous decorating than sailing!
Now off to Dingle, and should be there tomorrow afternoon to meet Steve again for the last leg back to Bristol starting first thing on Monday. Andrew left us in Westport – thanks for everything over the last 3 weeks. Great sailing with you, and have fun in the sun!”
