Ben, crew
We’ve left Illulisat and are now heading south. This morning we left the boat and walked into town to find the Illulisat Museum that according to the lord high Nikolai is good. We went in two groups and of course the one that left first arrived last, that was the one with me in by the way. The museum is the towns old vicarage.
It is as such quite a large building with three floors and space to put a small number of high quality exhibits. The top floor had a wall dedicated to every newspaper article published locally about climate change. It’s quite a big wall and there are no spare spaces, it’s definitely been noticed up here. While we were there we met a Danish designer and her husband who were about for a holiday and turned out to be quite interested in the trip. We had a pleasant chat with them and it was decided that they’d come down to the boat before we left. On our way out Frances had a talk with the people at the shop/ticket desk and it turned out that they’d heard about us in the local radio! I’m really pleased about this, it’s nice to have evidence that we’re successfully attracting attention to the trip and the climate change problem that is only too evident.
After we left we went to a cafe in town and lo and behold, ran into the Danish couple again, not to mention Nikolai. I mean that, forget I mentioned him. We all returned to the boat in a sort of drawn out line and had our third coffee of the day on board with our new friends. We departed the dock with a kind if brief farewell from the Hong Kong yacht we were tied up against. I wasn’t immediately on watch so I’m afraid I can tell little of the way out because I was ever so slightly in bed. However when my watch started it was all fair seas and calm tailwinds and warmish weather until dusk fell when it was more on the same except with stars and faint aurora. I have now come off watch and plan to go back to bed. As such I’m afraid I’ll leave you now, three days to Nuuk, see you there.

Hi Ben
Im Zander Manson and it was me who gave you the minecraft skeleton horse when you visited us at Whiteness primary School. It was great to see the photo of it on your trip.
We know that you have completed the ne passage and nw passage so well done and now you are on the last leg of the trip.
Are you looking forward to getting home and going to school?.
We all send you best wishes. From Zander
I’m getting very excited about your return to Bristol. A friend has asked to come and visit on October 19 th. I have told him that is fine unless it is the day when the Northabout returns because I will be down at the locks to see you come in.
I am just reading a book by David Cowper who you passed somewhere along the way. It is so much easier to read now that I feel familiar with the places he is talking about due to following you closely. For me it has been such an enjoyable and instructive summer. I am almost sorry it is coming to an end but I am sure you will be quite glad to be getting back to family, friends and school.
